Session Ident: #glitchpc
[00:00] * Now talking in #glitchpc
[00:00] * Topic is 'Welcome to #glitchpc chat. Profanity, trolls, and impersonation are not welcome here.'
[00:00] * Set by Calum on Wed Dec 09 05:59:26
[00:14] <Craig> WOW, I forgot how awesome Firefox Was... :P Soooo many extra addons.
[00:14] <@BC_Programming> heh
[00:14] <@BC_Programming> I have quite a few installed myself now that Icheck
[00:15] <Craig> I was just setting up this other computer for my dad, and I was looking through some that will help the guy keep problems off of his computer,
[00:15] <@BC_Programming> ahh
[00:15] <Craig> hahaha, oddly enough I found some that I want. :P
[00:16] <Craig> I have a area on my computer that I have had to dissalow to my Virus scanner... Sooo many tools... :D heh, sooo many *Non Viruses*
[00:17] <@BC_Programming> heh
[00:17] <@BC_Programming> "tools"
[00:17] <Craig> :P
[00:17] <Craig> Those are not killer tools, their anti killer tools.
[00:17] <@BC_Programming> most can be both. I wonder if an AV would flag netmap
[00:17] <Craig> HAHAHA, Probably...
[00:18] <Craig> it is a network scanning tool.
[00:18] <@BC_Programming> that's pretty much why I don't keep an AV installed
[00:18] <@BC_Programming> get's in the way
[00:18] <@BC_Programming> AVG:"OMGZ! somethin is writing to the registry!"
[00:18] <@BC_Programming> "yeah, it's me, dumbass"
[00:18] <Craig> Hahah, With Comodo, I can tell it there is a Directory that I dont want it to monitor,
[00:19] <@BC_Programming> "AVG: OKZ! just makin sure! OMG! something is writin a file!"
[00:19] <@BC_Programming> heh
[00:19] <Craig> I can also test any software I want and not have to worry about viruses or anything
[00:19] <Craig> hahahahaah
[00:19] <Craig> yeah
[00:19] <@BC_Programming> ahh, but isn't that what VMs are for?
[00:19] <Craig> True, but I like live envir
[00:20] <@BC_Programming> with VMWare, at least, you can maximize it and go fullscreen and you wouldn't be able to tell that it was a VM without checking, heh
[00:21] <Craig> I can, it just feels different, :P
[00:21] <Craig> Even with my Quad core
[00:21] <@BC_Programming> depends on the guest OS I suppose
[00:21] <Craig> Windows 7,
[00:21] <@BC_Programming> ahh yes
[00:21] <Craig> thoguh I have done it on XP Vista and Linux
[00:21] <@BC_Programming> XP and earlier run nice and smooth
[00:21] <Craig> Oh its not that, its perfectly smooth on Windows 7,
[00:22] <Craig> Its hard to explain,
[00:22] <@BC_Programming> XP,2000, ME, 98SE, 95, NT 4, NT 3.51 and w2K work fine for me
[00:22] <Craig> Hahaha,
[00:22] <Craig> I have no real need for anything below xp anymore...
[00:22] <@BC_Programming> oh and slackware 13, ubuntu, and dun dun dun! Mac OSX
[00:22] <Craig> heh, OSX is fun to dupe onto a VM
[00:22] <@BC_Programming> I want to get BCSearch working at least with Win98 hopefully
[00:23] <@BC_Programming> it works with W2k and up as it is now
[00:23] <Craig> Why so far back?
[00:23] <@BC_Programming> why not :D
[00:23] <Craig> :P
[00:23] <Craig> You know whats funny,
[00:23] <@BC_Programming> besides, I wrote the file lib to degrade gracefully
[00:23] <@BC_Programming> good to know if it works, heh
[00:23] <Craig> I forgot the difference in speeds with 10MB vs 100MB
[00:23] <Craig> it seems sooo slow...
[00:23] <@BC_Programming> ahh the network?
[00:23] <Craig> Course it could be the switch...
[00:24] <@BC_Programming> yeah this may come as a surprise, but 100 is actually ten times faster then 10, heh
[00:24] <Craig> I mean, its not actually a switch, just a hub... :S
[00:24] <@BC_Programming> heh I just installed Vista in a VM
[00:25] <@BC_Programming> somebody is having issues finding the E-mail the windows 7 setup backed up apparently, so I'm going to do the same and see if I can find it, heh
[00:26] <Craig> That sucks,
[00:26] <Craig> if their using Outlook their hooped,
[00:26] <Craig> Windows 7 does funny things to it...
[00:26] <@BC_Programming> no they were using the windows mail
[00:26] <@BC_Programming> in vista
[00:26] <Craig> Outlook express I mean
[00:26] <Craig> Oh ok
[00:26] <Craig> they should be ok then...
[00:26] <@BC_Programming> and they said that, the installer for windows 7 backed up their email stuff somewhere for them
[00:26] <@BC_Programming> but they can't find it
[00:27] <@BC_Programming> best I could suggest at the time was to look in windows.0, if the folder exists
[00:27] <Craig> Thats because their supposed to use the Windows 7 importer/updater
[00:27] <@BC_Programming> oh... how does that work?
[00:27] <Craig> Not really sure, I never use it... :P
[00:27] <Craig> I just know that windows Mail has an importer that should find the file for them
[00:28] <@BC_Programming> but windows 7 doesn't come with a mail program
[00:28] <Craig> They can get it through Windows Live Essentials.
[00:28] <@BC_Programming> oh they want to use thunderbird
[00:29] <@BC_Programming> they just dunno how to import the stuff the setup saved
[00:29] <Craig> ... Their hooped... unless they exported Windows mail they cant import that file directly.,
[00:29] <@BC_Programming> Windows Easy transfer...
[00:29] <@BC_Programming> looks like that might be relevant
[00:29] <Craig> haha, yup
[00:29] <@BC_Programming> probably saved it using that, that would make more sense I think
[00:30] <@BC_Programming> probably does it by default when you upgrade from Vista methings
[00:30] <Craig> Probably,
[00:30] <@BC_Programming> methinks*
[00:32] <@BC_Programming> laptops are fun
[00:32] <@BC_Programming> heh
[00:33] <Craig> 256MB of updates for XP... :P
[00:33] <Craig> interesting

[12:40] <@jacky> good afternoon(evening)
[12:40] <@Calum> good evening (afternoon)

[12:56] <Mulreay> Calum you there?
[12:56] <@Calum> yeah
[12:57] <Mulreay> Got my enclosure today whoop
[12:57] <@Calum> awesome
[12:57] <@Calum> does it work?
[12:57] <Mulreay> yeah.. just wanted to thank you again
[12:57] <@Calum> no need to thank me, we helped each other out
[12:57] <@Calum> saved me the hassle of trying to flog it on ebay
[12:57] <Mulreay> Just moved a load of stuff over to it to give my internal some space
[12:58] <Mulreay> yeah
[12:58] <@Calum> cool
[12:58] <Mulreay> I'm amazed at some of the crap I have collected
[12:58] <@Calum> hah yeah, it can be surprising
[12:59] <Mulreay> 1001 photo's?? What's that all about heh
[12:59] <@Calum> hah
[13:03] <@Calum> today at work, a motherboard turned up with a saved overclock profile from our main competitor....that was odd to say the least
[13:03] <Mulreay> What second hand?
[13:03] <@jacky> returned?
[13:04] <@Calum> yeah returned
[13:04] * Ashley (Mibbit@mib-487449C8.lutn.cable.ntl.com) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[13:05] <@jacky> did you use it anyway?
[13:05] <@jacky> or send it back...
[13:05] <@Calum> well, it was taken back as part of a system for a refund so it will be used again in a system
[13:06] <@jacky> no sorry
[13:06] <@jacky> when I asked if it was returned
[13:06] <@jacky> I meant... had your competitor once owned it,a nd returned it to the manufacturer, and thus you all got it from the manufacturer, thinking it was a new one
[13:06] <@Calum> oh, no, it was returned from a customer
[13:07] <@Calum> so we're really not sure how or why that profile is there....
[13:07] <@Calum> especially considering their profile was total crap
[13:07] <Mulreay> Could they of just swopped out the motherboard?
[13:08] <@jacky> sounds like your customer, had them working on it
[13:08] <@jacky> mighten that not void the warranty?
[13:08] <@Calum> possibly, if they owned a system from the competitor, they could have swapped the board in "our" system for the one in "theirs"
[13:08] <Mulreay> Which you would think would invalidate the warranty
[13:08] <@Calum> the profiles would only come with a prebuilt system so I don't think it's been loaded on after it was sold or anything
[13:09] <@jacky> or, just that they let your competitor work on your system.
[13:09] <@Calum> we don't put warranty stickers on so we have no way of telling
[13:09] <Mulreay> ahh ok
[13:09] <@Calum> jacky: it wouldn't work that way, the competitor is the same as us in that they sell components and systems. They wouldn't have taken a system supplied by us and loaded on a profile
[13:10] <@jacky> ok
[13:34] * Calum (Calum@mib-9910B093.leic.cable.ntl.com) Quit (Quit: )

[13:58] <Craig> Hey Mulreay, you had a question for me the other day? Do you remember it?
[13:58] <Craig> heh, brb shortly.
[13:59] <Mulreay> Yeah sorry I actually have someone in my websites chatroom... How good is that! heh
[14:01] <Craig> Thats awesome,
[14:01] <Craig> so what was the question?
[14:01] <Craig> :S
[14:03] <Mulreay> Sorry Craig I'm all over the shop at the moment...
[14:03] <Craig> hahaha, no worries
[14:05] <Mulreay> Craig: I did not have admin privilages on the site.
[14:05] <Craig> hhe, sorry about that,
[14:05] <Craig> give me a sec
[14:05] <Mulreay> np
[14:05] <Craig> Fixed, :)
[14:06] <Mulreay> cool thx
[14:07] <Craig> Change away then! :) I was wondering why nothing was changing. :P
[14:07] <Mulreay> heh
[14:08] <Mulreay> I have been busy working on a huge project that is taking up most of my time..
[14:14] <Craig> Nice, what kind?
[14:14] <@BC_Programming> probably something in gmod, heh
[14:14] <Craig> HAHAHAHAH
[14:15] <Mulreay> Yeah so... (sheepish grin)
[14:15] <@BC_Programming> hmm just noticed a query window from some guy named "Godfather"
[14:15] <@BC_Programming> 'u there"
[14:15] <Mulreay> heh
[14:15] <@BC_Programming> !seen Godfather
[14:16] <@BC_Programming> haha
[14:16] <@BC_Programming> oh wow
[14:16] <@BC_Programming> 49 seconds
[14:16] <@BC_Programming> he's devoted
[14:18] <Craig> hahah
[14:18] <@BC_Programming> I wonder what he would have said next
[14:18] <Mulreay> heh
[14:18] <@BC_Programming> "hey can I haz op plz"
[14:18] <Mulreay> lol
[14:18] <Craig> hahahah
[14:18] <Mulreay> Why do people do that?
[14:19] <@BC_Programming> because they're dumb
[14:19] <@BC_Programming> obviously
[14:19] <Mulreay> yeah there is that
[14:19] <@BC_Programming> that's sort of like asking why moths fly into a candle flame
[14:19] <@BC_Programming> sure, their's a logical explanation
[14:19] <@BC_Programming> but it's a lot easier to simply say they are simple-minded insects
[14:20] <@BC_Programming> you think that they are so leet they can fly through fire
[14:21] <Mulreay> heh actually they do it because they are light sensitive as they use the moon for navigation... but that's a theory heh
[14:21] <@BC_Programming> they use the sun and moon
[14:22] <@BC_Programming> they keep the sun/moon in the same location to their body
[14:22] <@BC_Programming> when it's something close, like a candle flame, that results in a spiral of death towards the flame.
[14:22] <Mulreay> yeah that as well... should of thought first before I spilled facts to BC_Programming
[14:22] <@BC_Programming> as far the the moth is concerned, it's going in a straight like, heh
